🧭 How to Use the Opening / Warm-Up Page

Tutorial Progress

🎯 Objective

The Opening (Warm-Up) page sets the tone for the unit and helps students connect with the topic before any formal learning begins. It's designed to spark curiosity, encourage conversation, and activate prior knowledge.

🧩 Page Structure

This page has two main parts:

🎬 Hero Section
A video or image with the unit title (e.g. "The Rude Neighbor").
→ Use this as a visual and thematic introduction to get students guessing what the lesson will be about.

💭 Discussion Grid
A set of flip cards with conversation questions.
→ Each card hides a question related to the theme.
→ When you click or tap a card, it flips to reveal the question.

🗣️ How to Run It

Step 1 – Introduce the Scene

Ask students to look at the title and background.

Have them predict what the unit might cover.

If there's a video, play it once without subtitles and discuss what they notice.

Step 2 – Explore Together

Play the video again and pause at key moments to check comprehension or highlight expressions.

Keep it light — this is not a comprehension test, just a warm-up.

Step 3 – Flip Card Discussion

Click or tap on each card to reveal the questions.

The teacher or the students can flip the cards, depending on whether the teacher is sharing the screen.

Encourage open discussion in pairs, small groups, or as a full class.

Step 4 – Wrap Up

Review interesting answers or common ideas.

Use the discussion to naturally transition into the next section (Vocabulary).

💡 Teaching Tips

Keep it fast-paced and conversational — it's about getting students talking, not correcting.

Use visual clues from the video or background image to build context.

If students are shy, flip a few cards yourself to get the discussion started.
